There are so many things to look forward to this Christmas: events, performances, lights and decorations, celebrations, competitions, activities and so much more!
Local businesses and charities with a shop front are invited to take part in our Christmas Window Competitions for retailers and charities. Together the windows create a fantastic trail around the town and are a wonderful way for visitors to our shopping hubs to admire the creative displays and take a look at what our retailers have to offer. If you are a retailer or charity and would like to take part let us know, there are great prizes on offer for the winners!
Take part in the Christmas Carnival Procession. The Mayor of Harpenden has extended an invitation to join this year’s Procession to all organisations, groups, clubs and societies on Sunday 23rd November at 3pm. Led by the Pipes and Drums, closely followed by Santa and his Elves, this is an opportunity for local groups to join this exciting Christmas celebration! Dress up, have fun and promote your group while offering some old-fashioned fun. Let us know if you'd like to take part!
The Mayor's Christmas Card Competition is now open and local children are invited to design the Mayor's official card. the winner will also turn on the Town's Christmas lights at the Carnival! Click on the link to find out more!

Harpenden Christmas Carnival and Lights Switch on Sunday 23rd November Christmas is a magical time in Harpenden and the Town Council warmly invites you to our spectacular Christmas Carnival on 23rd November 12-6pm. It's free to attend and everyone is welcome.
Batford Christmas Lights Switch On - 27th November Wrap up warm for the Christmas Light Switch On in Batford, Harpenden. This is a wonderful community event which includes carol singing, craft making and free festive refreshments for the Batford community! Further information will be updated here.
Southdown Christmas Lights Switch On takes place on the 28th November. This exciting festive community event brings a variety of entertainment including carol singing, fairground rides and stalls. Enjoy free entry to meet and greet Santa and craft activities! Local businesses will also be involved with special Christmas themed offerings. Further information is available here.
The Mayor of Harpenden's Charity Carol Concert - Wednesday 10th December, 6pm. Join the Mayor for some traditional carol singing at St John's Church, St John's Road, Harpenden. Plus performances by local schools. All proceeds to the Mayor's Nominated Charities - the King's Pantry Foodbank and The Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline. Find out more on our calendar.
