Rothamsted Park Play Area Redevelopment

Harpenden Town Council have been in discussions with St Albans City & District Council for some time about the transfer of ownership of Rothamsted Park.

The Council recently considered an update on the financial and Health & Safety implications and has agreed in principle to some revised terms and conditions of transfer. There are further details that need to be agreed but the decision taken by the Town Council moves us closer to taking ownership of the site and delivering our vision for its future improvement.

This vision includes a new children’s play area, with the Town Council committing £150,000 to redevelopment, subject to match funding and transfer of ownership. Playpark Action Rothamsted Committee (PARC), charity registration number 1179147, have already raised significant funds towards the redevelopment of the play area, which when combined with the Town Council monies, will provide an anticipated budget of £250,000 for the installation of new play equipment, which will be separated into age appropriate zones (0-5 Years, 6-11 Years and 11-15 Years). Harpenden Town Council will work closely with PARC and the local community throughout the redevelopment process.
