community grant awarded to much-loved hedgehog sanctuary
Harpenden Town Council was delighted to recently award a Community Grant to Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary, a charity which rehabilitates wild hedgehogs and orphaned baby hoglets that are sick, injured, or underweight.
With the Community Grant this incredible charity has been able to double their outside capacity with an additional twenty-one rehabilitation hutches making a real difference to the care they can offer to rescued animals.

The parks and green spaces of Harpenden are not only diverse in the amenities they offer to visitors, but also hugely important to local wildlife and biodiversity. Wander to Batford Springs Local Nature Reserve, for example, to enjoy a rare chalk lined stream, reed fen, wet woodland, meadows, hedgerows and the River Lea.
