Harpenden Town Council Responds to London Luton Airport’s Planning Decision | 08/01/2014

Luton Borough Council approved the planning application for London Luton Airport at its Development Control meeting held on Friday 20 December 2013. The Department for Communities and Local Government had previously served a holding direction so that while the application could be considered it could not be granted.

Town Councillors recently visited a number of Air Raid Shelters in the Town in order that they could see the context and value of the shelters. Should the Council seek to preserve one of the shelters? This was one of the challenging issues facing Councillors.

Driving on the Common can lead to Anti Social Behaviour notice | 23/12/2013

On the early evening of the Harpenden Christmas Carnival, a Land Rover Discovery driven by a local resident was witnessed driving across the common opposite the Harpenden Public Halls, known locally as the Triangle, from the A1081 to Southdown Road and up Arden Grove.

The Town Mayor, Councillor Rosemary Farmer, held a Mayor’s at Home event in Park Hall on Thursday 5 December in aid of her nominated charities; The Harpenden Trust and The Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Charity.
