JUNE 2014 - update
Our fantastic new Toddler play equipment has been installed however we are sorry to advise we cannot open it just yet. Following the installation we had an independent report carried out and it highlighted some snagging issues that need resolving for everyone's safety. We are working hard with the installer and our aim is to open next week (week commencing 23 June 2014)
In the meantime if you do witness anyone in the play area that shouldn't be please do report it to the Harpenden Safer Neighbourhood Police Team by calling 101.
Harpenden Town Council own and manage Porters Hill Park, located just off Pickford Hill in Batford.
Facilities within the Park include a natural play area with a zip-wire, basket swing, slide and a wooden climbing frame, a large grassed area for informal games and football and a multi-use games area with floodlighting.
The natural play area was opened in May 2010 following its development from a previously derelict area of land. Groundwork Hertfordshire designed the play area following community consultation with local young people. Other groups involved included St Albans City and District Council, Harpenden Town Council, Batford Community Action Group, The Harpenden Trust, County Cllr Bernard Lloyd’s Locality Budget, Hertfordshire Police Authority, London Luton Airport Community Trust Fund and RWE Npower Renewables.
Location: Porters Hill Play Area, off Pickford Hill, Batford, Harpenden, AL5 5BQ . The entrance is opposite Fulmore Close by the flats
