Porters Hill Park

200_Scouts at Porters Hill .JPGHarpenden Town Mayor, Councillor Daniel Chichester-Miles opened the Town Council’s first play area at Porters Hill Open Space on Saturday 22 May 2010.

This previously derelict plot of land in Batford has now been transformed to provide a fantastic new natural play area.

Groundwork Hertfordshire have designed the play area following community consultation with local young people.  The theme of the Play Area is natural play and local children advised they wanted a zip-wire, basket swing, slide and a wooden climbing frame to be incorporated into the design.  A grass mound has been constructed with a double width slide.

The new play area was achieved through a partnership which includes:

St Albans City and District Council, Harpenden Town Council, Batford Community Action Group, The Harpenden Trust, County Cllr Bernard Lloyd’s Locality Budget, Hertfordshire Police Authority, London Luton Airport Community Trust Fund and RWE Npower Renewables.

Adjacent to the site there is a Multi-Use Games Area and playing fields.

Location: Porters Hill Play Area, off Pickford Hill, Batford, Harpenden, AL5 5BQ .  The entrance is opposite Fulmore Close by the flats665_Climbing frame at Porters Hill.JPG
