There are a number of ways that you can get involved with Harpenden in Bloom. You don't have to have much gardening experience: just plenty of enthusiasm!
Each year the Harpenden in Bloom Working Party organise several competitions for schools, organisations, businesses and members of the public. Competitions include Best Front Garden, Best Communal Garden, Most Creative Planter, Tallest Sunflower, as well as competitions for allotment owners.
There are a number of sponsorship opportunities for local businesses, including sponsoring competitions, hanging baskets and flowerbeds in the town. Sponsorship of the Bull Road Roundabout is organised through a tender process.
The Working Party meet around 3 times per year and make decisions on planting schemes in the town, as well as supporting competition judging and getting involved in planting days. We welcome new members to the Working Party.
The Working Party organises two planting days per year, usually in May and October, to plant flowers and shrubs in a selection of flowerbeds in the town.
The next planting date will be in June 2016, more details to follow.
Other ways to get involved
If you are unable to get involved in the ways listed above, we have opportunities for businesses and individuals with an interest in landscaping or photography to get involved with judging of competitions, or if you are a keen photographer, to photograph the flowerbeds and hanging baskets throughout the town.
