Christmas in Harpenden

There are lots of events and competitions run by Harpenden Town Council to help you get into the spirit for the festive season:

The Carnival will take place on the 26th Nov down the High Street with our Christmas Market running alongside. Father Christmas and his Elves will be stopping by again to visit the children of Harpenden, and our famous Christmas Lights will be switched on as the sun goes down.

FREE PARKING will be available during the Christmas Carnival from 12 noon at the Harpenden Station car parks (while spaces last)

The Southdown Christmas Light switch-on will be on 1st December and Batford Christmas Light switch-on takes place on 10th December. Details to be announced nearer the time.

Christmas Window Competition:Christmas Window Competition Poster200_20161216_125447.jpg

Every year we run a Christmas Window Competition for the shop and business owners in Harpenden, Batford, Kinsbourne Green and Southdown. Usually, we supply a theme to help get the creative juices flowing, but this year all bets are off! As long as your window has a festive feel you can enter into the competition.

This year the prize is better than ever, including a promotional stand at the 2018 Christmas Carnival, an article in the Forum newsletter and the prestigious Rose Bowl.

The winners of the 2016 Christmas Window Competition were Blue Cross who put together a magical display. Can anyone beat them this year and reclaim the coveted Rose Bowl?

Entry to the competition is free and will be judged by the Town Mayor Cllr Rosemary Farmer.
