Harpenden Town Council’s Formal Response to the North West Harpenden Planning Application

At the Extraordinary Council meeting which took place on Tuesday 30 May 2023, Harpenden Town Council, as a Statutory Consultee, agreed the formal response for submission to St Albans City and District Council on planning application reference 5/2023/0327 - Outline Application (access sought) for Land at Cooters End Lane and Ambrose Lane for the construction of up to 550 dwellings including c.130 Class C2 integrated retirement homes.

Harpenden Town Council welcomes new Mayor and Councillors at Annual Council Meeting

Harpenden Town Council’s Annual Council Meeting took place on 11th May in Park Hall. This is the first meeting of the Council’s Municipal Year and included election of the new Town Mayor, Cllr Fiona Gaskell, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Pip Liver.

Trees in Lydekker Park

Harpenden Town Council takes a proactive approach to managing trees which includes regular health and safety surveys and remedial works. Following recently commissioned surveys we sought further advice from specialist arboriculturists regarding two oak trees in Lydekker Park.

Byelaws Review Officer Responses

New first-class sports facility is one step closer

Harpenden Town Council, Harpenden Town FC and Harpenden Colts FC have for some time had a joint ambition to deliver an exciting new Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) in the Town. This ambition is one step closer as planning permission has been granted and significant external funding now confirmed.

Statement regarding Rothamsted Park Pavillion

Since acquiring Rothamsted Park in April 2021, Harpenden Town Council has made significant improvements to it as part of our new ambitious Management Plan. Harpenden Town Council seeks opinions on decline of High Street banks

High Streets across the UK have seen many changes over recent years and Harpenden is no different. One of the most significant changes is the reduction in banks and the services that they offer. Harpenden Town Council has started work to explore the opening of a Community Banking Hub to help address the impact that the loss of banks has in the Town.
